Belagavi North Zone gets new IGP Sandeep Patil, IGP, North Karnataka.

Senior IPS officer Sandeep Patil has been appointed as the new IGP of Belagavi North Zone after the Karnataka Police headquarters cleared technical hurdles delaying the transfer order.

North Karnataka region comprises the districts of Belagavi, Bagalkote, Ballary, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Gulbarga, Koppal, Raichur, Uttar Jannt (Karwar), Vijaynagar and Yadgir.

Patil, who was serving as KSRP IGP, has been directed to immediately assume charge.

A 2004-batch Karnataka cadre IPS officer, Patil had earlier served as Belagavi SP in 2010 and gained recognition for strict and people-friendly policing. He was also instrumental in busting several inter-state drug rackets and other crimes linked to the Belagavi-Goa region.

His return is being viewed as significant considering the sensitive Karnataka-Goa border policing and interstate crime coordination responsibilities of the Belagavi North Zone.

Patil is also known for completing the prestigious Ironman Triathlon in multiple countries, including Denmark.
