Arossim Chapel begins catechetical year focused on pastoral theme

PANAJI

The Catechetical Association of St Lawrence Chapel, Arossim, commenced its catechetical year 2026-2027 with a renewed focus on the diocesan pastoral theme, ‘Abide in Me’.  The theme will serve as the guiding inspiration for the various catechetical activities and faith formation programmes planned throughout the year.

Chaplain Fr Myron Jeson Barreto emphasised the significance of the pastoral theme.  “The pastoral year invites us to abide in Jesus Christ. When we abide in Him, we bear abundant fruit. Through the various activities planned for this catechetical year, special emphasis will be given to fostering devotion to the Eucharist and a deeper appreciation of the Word of God,” he said.  The annual catechetical planner includes a wide range of activities aimed at nurturing the spiritual, moral and social growth of children.  These include book cover presentations, Grandparents’ Day celebrations, hymn-singing presentations, parable enactments, quizzes, Rosary Day observances, Children’s Day celebrations, sports activities, faith formation programmes, Vocation Day, recollections and retreats, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the annual catechetical day, among others.  The chapel has a dedicated team of 20 catechists who will accompany and guide the children on their faith journey throughout the year. Through regular catechism classes and various formative activities, the catechists will help the children grow in their knowledge of Christ, deepen their faith, and actively participate in the life of the Church.   The Catechetical Association expressed its commitment to making the year spiritually enriching and meaningful for all children entrusted to its care, encouraging them to remain rooted in Christ and live out Gospel values in their daily lives.
