Dog rescued from cave in Chicalim

A dog that had fallen into a cave at Chicalim was rescued on Tuesday following a coordinated effort by fire fighters and animal welfare volunteers after locals raised an alarm about the incident. According to information available, a distress call was received from a local resident informing that a dog had slipped into a cave in the Chicalim area and was unable to come out. Acting on the alert, fire fighters rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Animal welfare volunteer Aman from People for Animals, Vasco, and Kelly Menezes, South Goa officer of the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA), also reached the site to assist in the rescue efforts. After careful coordination, the team managed to safely pull the dog out of the cave. The dog was rescued without any major injuries and was later moved to safety. Speaking after the rescue, DSPCA South officer Kelly Menezes appealed to local bodies and residents to take preventive measures to avoid such incidents.
